If he isn’t texting/emailing/phoning you back in a reasonable amount of time then he’s playing a game with you. No one is that busy that they can’t answer with a one liner text message, or even a single word to let you know they received your message. Players will usually say that they are just too busy and didn't get a chance to answer. Well that is a load of bull! No one on this planet is too busy to send or receive a text. Stop playing games and set him straight.
Overreaction My Ass
You aren’t overreacting. If he tells you one thing, but then does another. Or he lets you down and doesn’t even bother letting you know or trying to make it up to you he’s most likely a player. They will make you feel like you are overreacting and escalating the issue. This isn’t true at all. When some one says they are going to do something they should do it. If they are not capable of doing what they said, they better have a good reason and at the very least let you know they are cancelling in advance.
